How to Care Clown Fish

Clown fish is famous white and orange color small tropical fish. They are so active they love to hide on a culture of sea anemones. Getting clown fish and caring him may be a serious challenge. Before buying make some research about them. Clown fishes are quite hardy then other tropical fishes and simple to care
Before adding buying a fish you should follow some steps -

Choose a large enough tank

For a better environment you should choose at least a 25 gallon water holding tank it keeps your fish happy,  happy fish means healthy fish. For better results new hobbies should aim for a 20-30 gallon tank.
Buying a small tank can be causes overload and ends with a massive disaster.

Choosing a correct position for your tank

Location of the tank can have a major effect on the health and happiness of the fish. Choose a quite place and far away from direct sunlight  and other electronics components like hitter, AC, ventilation opening. It is necessary to make a decision to choosing a permanent position for your tank; Aquariums usually weigh about 10 pounds (4.5 kilo grams) for every gallon of water they contain. This means that a 30 gallon (113.6 L) tank will weigh about 300 pounds (136 kilo grams.) Keep this in mind when you're choosing a table or stand to support it.And it should be completely level with ground.

Check your tank

you don't want to end up with a leak tank for safety fill your tank with normal water and check is there any leak available?

Add the substrate

Rains your substrate with aquarium water(marine water mix) and fill the tank bottom 1/2 inch thick with them.

Add hiding space

In nature Clown fishes spent their time with hiding in the fronds of sea anemones and rocky crevices in coral reefs. Give your clown fish a happy home by adding plenty of rocks, plants, artificial reef formations, and decorations for it to hide in. Before adding eny fish rains them carefully before adding them. If you thinking to add sea anemones then care of your fishes may could be more tricky and sea anemones are dangerous for human.
The following sea anemone species make good hosts for clown fish- Entacmaea quadricolor, Heteractis magnifica, Stichodactyla gigantea, and Stichodactyla haddoni.

Fill your tank with water

As Clown fishes are Marin water fish you have to make a marine water mix or you can purchase per mixed marine water from aquarium store. To make it yourself you need a big enough bucket that can hold your aquarium volume water, RO/distilled water, hydrometer, Marine salt mix(Never ever use normal table salt or any kind of other salt only use marine salt from aquarium store) and a powerhead (optional). Process - at first fill your bucket with required amount ro/distilled water then add marine salt mix as per the amount gives in it's packet body then for do the mixing faster add a powerhed in bucket and turned it on then after 12 hour check specific gravity with hydrometer if the results shows  1.020 to 1.026 then it is ok otherwise add more salt or water for increasing or decreasing the label and start the powerhed Again. Then after 24 Hr add the water into your tank .
For beginners my opinion is to buy premixed marine water from aquarium store.

Filtration

The most required thing for eny aquarium is Filtration system. In the ocean there are huge place for bio west in nature bio west cleaned automatically but in aquarium there are no enough space for bio west. If bio load increase it can kill your fishes. For keep your tank health and beauty good you need to place a filter.
purchase a good quality filter for your tank like HOB. A special, separate type of filter called a protein skimmer is recommended, but not always required.

Cycling your tank

Cycle your tank it help to make your tank healthy. During cycling period beneficial bacterias grow in the filtering media, sand/substrate and rocks they helps your tank to stay healthy. Live rock and live sand helps this process faster. Live rock/sand may contain harmful things before adding theme thick carefully.

Adding fishes

If  you done this whole process you can buy your fish. Add them to your tank and you can enjoy the beauty of clown fishes.

Feeding

Feed them once a day. There are spacial marine fish food available in the pet shop. Since clown fish are omnivorous, they can also eat both vegetable and animal matter, so consider occasionally adding small chunks of algae, shrimp, cut-up worms, and so on to the tank for a greater range of nutrition.

Temperature

Clown fishes are native to the warmer parts of the eastern Indian ocean and the western Pacific ocean extending from the equator all the way to Australia where temperature is about 75-85° F (about 24-30° C.). If you leave in a cold place you should add Heater with thermometer.

Day/Night Cycle

Ideally, your tank should have its own lighting system to provide any plants in it with much-needed solar energy for photosynthesis. If you turned the light on for long time then your fish can be stressed out. You should daily maintain the day/night cycle by putting your light on and off.

Check your filtration system regular

If your filtration system breakdown then it can be dangerous for your fishes it will increase the toxic label of your tank. To avoid this check your filtration system regularly.

Test your water regularly

Water conditions can says everything about your tank is it healthy or something going wrong. For keep your Clown fishes healthy you should test your water regularly. The water parameter and testing tools are given below-

  • Temperature: 75-85° F (about 24-30° C) — thermometer
  • Salinity: Specific gravity of 1.020 to 1.026hydrometer
  • pH: 8.0-8.4pH meter
  • Ammonia: 0.0 (too low to detect) — Ammonia test kit
  • Nitites: < 0.2 parts per million — Nitrite test kit

Water change

To keep your tank Healthy you need to change about a quarter water of your tank within few weeks.Add same amount of water that you removed. During water change vacuum the fish poop and wastage food from the gravel with syphon.Keep in mind, however, that your new water must be the correct salinity for you tank unless you want to cause a potentially dangerous dip in salt levels.
Some time Naturally water vaporize but salt are not to keep the balance add some fresh water to maintain the correct Salinity.
